Ölga was founded in 2001, Lisbon - Portugal.
In June 2003, Ölga was short listed for the final stage of Rockastruse band contest and were considered the most original band to participate. This achievement called the attention to the music producer Paulo Miranda, who later came to record their first EP, “Ölga”.
The recording took place two months later at the Ampstudio in Viana do Castelo being released in February 2004 under Borland’s label. Ölga went on performing live and promoting their work.
Once again in August 2004 Ölga went back to the studio and recorded their first LP “What is”, this time at Sinal 26 Studio in Bairro Alto - Lisbon.
The record was released under the BorLand’s label at the beginning of 2005 which originated the band's first and only video clip - "Money".
Amongst all of Ölga's live performances throughout the country, the most memorable were in, Festivais Tejo, Noites Ritual Rock and at Casa da Música in Porto.
Meanwhile Ölga have dedicated a period to the acquaintance of new technical and creative abilities, following new paths of experimentation and opening doors to a more intense and rhythmic sound, strongly rooted in rock. In 2009, Ölga are back and looking for a new record label in order to release and promote their just recorded album.
“La Résistance” it is the result of a journey through a world of new sensations acquired during this last years, while Ölga explored a not very distant musical past, in pursuit of up tempo sonorities that could cast with their natural nostalgia.
